Blue Jackets Hockey League 2022- 2023  Ice Hockey

Winter Season registration is closed. You will need to contact info@bluejacketshockeyleague.com to ask if there is a late registration option. 

During the 10-week season, your child will participate in on and off ice programming that continues to challenge your young hockey player. The on and off ice sessions will be led by Blue Jackets Hockey League Development Coaches and volunteer team coaches. It is a fun way to meet new teammates, friends, and play some hockey!

Your season fee includes:

  • 20 ice sessions per 10-week season (mixture of modified ice games and training sessions each week).
  • Age and developmentally appropriate programming led by Blue Jackets Hockey League Development Coaches and volunteer team coaches.
  • Columbus Blue Jackets Replica Home and Away jerseys and matching socks.*
  • The on-ice times will be consistent throughout the year unless communicated.

*Players will get one jersey and matching socks per year.

2012-2017 Birth Years

PRE-REQUISITE

Completion of the CBJ Learn to Play Hockey Series (1, 2, and 3) and/or previous playing experience in an 8U house league (CAHA, CCYHA, or EYHA). Others need to apply/provide documentation by emailing info@bluejacketshockeyleague.com.

Make sure you have your 2022- 23 USA Hockey Membership - USA Hockey Membership

SEASON

Options to choose from:

  • Full season - October to March
  • Fall half season - October to December
  • Winter half season - January to March

SCHEDULE

  • 2 Ice Sessions per week*
    • Typically, one game and one practice per week. 

You have your choice of rink locations, we hope you choose the one closest to your home. However, you are free to choose whichever location you wish. 

Additional Sessions
There may be opportunities (for purchase) for participants to register for additional session(s) during each season. These sessions will be in addition to the 2 ice sessions per week and are optional.

*Most players will be on the same team in the Fall and Winter seasons. However, there will be some changes due to players joining and entering the Blue Jackets Hockey League for Fall and Winter seasons. 

REQUIRED GEAR

Players provide their own:

  • Helmet with cage
  • Gloves, elbow pads, shoulder pads, shin pads, jock/jill, hockey pants
  • Hockey stick
  • Hockey skates

Goaltending Equipment will be provided by the Blue Jackets Hockey League. We want all players to have an opportunity to try goaltender.

COST

  • Winter Half Season - $350

Participation in each season(Fall or Winter) requires you to pay in full on registration date or be fully paid one month before the season start.

Player's Development Stage - FUNdamentals

During this stage, participants will continue to refine fundamental movement skills (Agility, Balance, and Coordination) and begin to acquire basic/intermediate hockey skills (skating and puck control). Participants will learn basic game and team concepts, plus, they will build important characteristics on and off the ice: teamwork, responsibility, and respect.
